Singapore, the 'WORLD'S DREAM PLACE", officially known as "Republic of Singapore", is a Southeast Asian country, off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula.Singapore consists of 63 islands. It is separated from Malaysia by the Straits of Johor to its north and from Indonesia's Riau Islands by the Singapore Strait to its south.
Singapore was ruled by various empires in the past.It hosted a trading post of the East India Company in 1819. Singapore became one of the British colony in 1826. Singapore was captured by Japan after the "Singapore War"in which it defeated Britain. But, after World War II, Britain took charge of Singapore again. Singapore declared independence in 1963, although it was separated from Malaysia two years later.
Since then Singapore has been growing every day, Financially and technologically. Today Singapore is the world's fourth leading financial centre, and its port is one of the five busiest ports in the world. Being one of the four ASIAN TIGERs, Singapore has been shining always...
